THE DALA HORSE'S NOTE: Today it was raining the whole day. It was perfect for Amreta who still had a little bit of pain from the tooth extraction yesterday, she could rest. But, well... she had a bag full of colorful oil pastels. And she couldn't stop drawing after opening the bag. Here are two of them:
AND MY OWN NOTE: I draw intuitively - and so everything that you see here is what artist Lisa Congdon called by "happy accidents". Turned out it's a 'required' creative process. I love it!
For the picture on the left, I created the background first, a mix of a few colors then I drew the abstract images with charcoal pencil and overlaid the lines with black and gold pastels, then added more and more colors on the drawings and throughout the space, until I was happy with the color blends. The happy accident happened when I accidentally scratched the drawing with the pencil cover, resulted in an interesting white line. So I continued scratching over the charcoal pencil drawing and the background and ha! That was fun!
For the picture on the right, I drew the oval shapes first, then added the teal background, blurring the oval shapes edges. Then overlaid the blurred edges with gold (love it!) then doodled with charcoal pencil to top off. It was also fun. I love both techniques.
